What Does Google’s Mobile-First Indexing Mean For You?

Have you gotten notifications from Google Search Console that mobile-first indexing is enabled for your sites? We sure have! Since it looks a little confusing at first glance, we thought we’d let you know about it.

In a nutshell: Google’s change to mobile-first indexing does not generate a new “mobile-first” index, or create a separate “mobile index”. What it does mean is Google now prioritizes mobile-friendly sites. When new content is added to the existing index, the mobile version of it is now considered the primary version. So, the mobile version of your site dramatically effects how your site ranking is determined.

There are no immediate actions required provided that:
• The mobile version of your site looks like it’s supposed to with no layout errors.
• Your mobile site’s content is up to date.
• You aren’t noticing any changes in your Google search positions.
• You don’t have any new initiatives related to mobile marketing.
